All things Dairy

Are they homemade or bought sprinklers?
Thanks

We used the nozzles off an old sprayer to create a wall of fine cold water in front of the parlour doors. Very little pressure is needed as it builds up in the hose.
Cows love it, flies won’t go through it. Spray off the parlour first to zap lurkers, then turn the water on. (y)

Saw this at a farm walk many years ago - can’t claim it.

Red clover in the base, you csn find it when you search, should we cut or wait for clover to rise and flower?

Only a red clover newby but I’d mow it now, the red clover will be plenty strong enough in the later cuts.

Our red clover leys absolutely thrive on mowing heights of around 70-90mm - means you cut above the first leaves which then emerge within a couple of days so recovery time is shorter - cutting on 28-30 day rotation here.
Is that done simply by angling the mower back or with the use of some sort of spacer ?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
