This is where we rear calves from a couple of weeks through to weaning. This field is split into 3 paddocks with a basic central handling system. The sea keeps it mild and the trees give great shelter.

Well, I think she's pregnant (with her 4th calf (s?) !! She actually looks a lot bigger in real life than in this. View attachment 830445

Had her down as due for 26th August but she still doesn't have masses of milk on her. Looking at the records we had a query bulling 3 weeks later and she was AI'd again, but couldn't get it through cervix, so thought perhaps not bulling after all, so didn't put it on the software.
PD+ when milk tested 21/1. So perhaps she is in calf to that second service, in which case she really will be enormous!
She got bigger...

Had been concerned it would be a bull calf with it being late, but it's a stonking Goodwhone daughter, which according to my belly band weighed in at 54kg.

She's not actually a massive yielder (7,050 last lactation), but constituents are respectable (3.38/4.65), she's just under 5 years old and just had her fourth calf (3 heifers, 1 bull) ; on monthly SCC she has never once been over 150, she's a real sweetie, so what's not to like?
