We locked into a long term contract at £700/t but that’s ending soon so doing the maths again but megalac isn’t a great replacement

Curious. How did it cost you if solids haven’t changed?
Easyjet grounded today so even fewer. I know that this is perhaps not the time to be saying we told you so, but our farming unions and promotion people need to be all over this when things settle down.
Also we hear lots about lorry drivers/supermarket workers/food production workers keeping the country fed, but very little about the plonker who actually produces the stuff in the first place. I think we are going to be left behind in what should be a golden opportunity to promote farming and our worth to the country.

Because litres have jumped by 2/cow or in other words, it’s possible that the beet suppressed yields because our girls were so keen to get at them they forgot to lie down to contemplate life whilst cudding

How about an electrified polywire with a bungy at each end of the feed barrier anchored so the cows can find out what it is but doesn’t stop them feeding.
The Joz will deflect the polywire and keep on working but the cows will stay clear .
Might need to wrap the Joz with a strip of 200 litre plastic drum to stop it shorting.
Have used this in 30 metre lengths before now so that I could feed up before milking and then just lift it when needed.

I’m sitting at 10.8ppl total feed cost, 51% heifers milking just now though, and 54% of the herd incalf

You managed to breach the 4% protein barrier yet or you still dicking about in the 3s like us mere mortals ?
Why? I bet TM has got a bigger margin per cow than me, that's what I was interested in.
The milk is up in the 2nd vessel, that means were at 4 normally

Problem is I’ve probably a lot more to come out of my margin?
Everyone works on bought in feed but it means nothing to me mines is 2.7ppl just now total feed is better I think.
You value your wheat/beans at market price? If so your arable side has made a decent margin
