Did you establish the herd or was you family or your wife's family already milking? I seem to remember you rent the farm from your wife's grandparents?
when I moved here we split the herd from my family and grew from there. I've always kept all the records so knew all the families and breeding behind all the cows but they didn't want to pay to be pedigree. So when I went on my own I could. My wife's grandparents had a Holstein herd which went to Cumbria after foot and mouth

Just looked at the sale report for the sale at Carlisle today and after speaking to Glyn Lucas last week and him saying it was a fantastic herd of dairy cattle the trade looked to be in the buyers favour
How trade can change so fast after a bit of bad milk pricing news,it was flying 3 weeks ago at Carlisle

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
