When we did the johnes 30 cow challenge last summer we was told that the milk samples will only work if you are tb free as a cow that has been tb tested in the last 60 days will show as a high or medium result to the test, same if the cow has tb.Johnes blood testing today. 354 blood samples taken.
Blood or Milk samples in the future, That is the question? @bovine
A Cogent scanner did sex one correctly last year, but the current gent I use never sticks his neck out, just a simple yay or nay.which is good enough for me.Can your scanning tech not sex the calf?

Be good to hear bovines opinion, my understanding is there's a high chance of false negatives with blood and therefore quarterly milk testing is necessary to build a picture. We've been doing it for a few years now but it's on of those things thats may come under the cost cutting axe
If it calved here this morning outside, fair chance it would have blown into wadebridge! Not much rain, less than 8mm. But gusts @over 70mphWhy do cows like calving in rubbish weather? 11 cows calved last night all out side on woodchip pad. It was blooming horrible at 4am this morning. Stopped raining now though. 117 calved so far and only on day 9.
8mm,? are you joking. I think i had 8mm in my jacket pockets. If it calved here this morning outside, fair chance it would have blown into wadebridge! Not much rain, less than 8mm. But gusts @over 70mph

No that's all we had, I'm feeling really sorry for myself with 8mm! It's a beautiful day here now, and with the wind it will really dry out.8mm,? are you joking. I think i had 8mm in my jacket pockets.
42mm Going well, was worried about going out today after all the rain we've had though. We had 42mm since last night ?! Beef farmer is on boys ground how's the zero grazing going?
How many are you milking? Look good cows, are they just on a straw yard or do they have the option to lie in cubicles aswell? What an earth are all these pictures of cows in fields. Did they escape or something

I thought it was rather a high chance of false postives with milk!

Your mate has reduced his numbers apparently. Fancy a few high yielding Holsteins over NCE bridge?300 cows going to cull from big farm in Pembs another in Carms cutting back to 1800 I assume this is a good thing.
