So, your conservation agriculture doesn't mean no pests after all. I look forward to seeing your yields. Perhaps your system does reduce pest pressure but it certainly does not eliminate it.

its certainly doesn't mean no pests - extermination is not the aim of conservation ag !

What I will say is I have decent yields (again) at low inputs levels and CSFB has not caused any problem and I don't expect them to this year either

once more this yera I will manage the rsk accordingly - £3.20 's worth (10kgs/ha )of seed from the heap has already been cleaned ready to direct drill - if CSFB take it out then it will be winter beans or a spring break instead, I certainly wont be making futile efforts and spending money on insecticide that's for sure

We had the same last year .. flea beetle all over the grain trailers.

Yield was okay.

But the following Oil Seed crop on different fields was pretty much wiped out.

So this year will either pre-empt with insecticide or stop growing OSR - looking like stopping growing OSR atm.

You could look at it that there is food fit to eat, it has some bugs - they will get cleaned out or eaten.
Most people would be happy.

I buy supermarket food too often and when I find animals in it there is a bit of me that goes "Yuk" and more of me goes - well not much insecticide on that then. I clearly need to set my standards higher, or lower.

I like the idea of a crop that has some wildlife that can survive in it. [I am not a vegan]

Loads of CSFB coming into store here as well, doesnt bode well for new crop planting.
Your videos are very impressive, what is your average field size ?

Average field size was 25ac ish - we have taken on some bigger ones and dropped a block off FBT land that had a load of small ones though over the last couple of years that has probably increased that to 35 ac maybe it’s not something I’ve sat and worked out for a while

I’m surrounded by fields or OSR and want to sow stubble turnips next week. Wonder how I’ll get on with them.
