Anderson Connectors

Looking to get a good power source to the rear of a couple of tractors, mainly for the baler. Are the large Anderson (175A/600amp) connectors any good or is there anything better? Thinking of running heavy cable direct from the battery with a suitably rated fuse to the back of the tractor so baler is easier to swap over if required instead of having to remove the loom from the tractor. Thanks

I use midsize Andersons for fert spreader power and sprayer air compressor. Works well and much simpler than having to wire direct up to the battery. Much easier to swap machines between tractors than the dedicated loom.

I don’t think you’d need them to be too large. I think mine are the 50amp.

Have ran Anderson connectors for several years on high power electrical fans ( hedge trimmers and previously on a quadrant square baler) and they work well with no problems

Like marmite here. We always seem to be sticking a screwdriver into them to move the plugs as they become slack then contact is poor. I prefer the circular plugs that screw together.

Standard d socket but direct to the battery should be good for most things albeit not massive motors.what kind of baler?we run balers and never required anything bigger than a direct to battery d plug.you also have a back up plan then if you get power problems.every tractor(14 of them) here has it's std d plug and a 2nd one direct to battery.

Horsch pronto drill needed 4 core cable for box when we got it 10yrs ago, 1x50amp 1x25amp have Anderson connections on it in the cab and use it for all other machinery power connections so all the tractors have same cable into cab

We’re looking to do something similar on a 6 string NH baler as the fans currently blow fuses/cut out for fun 🤬
What cable size should we be looking at ? And what is the biggest fuse we can pop in without compromising the health of the (3) fans ?
