Not sure I would want a 'nature lover ' living close to me ......
Might object to me shooting the rabbits squirrels etc .
Might object to me spraying
Might object t to me sending cattle to abattoir.........

....and for £175 a week

wouldn't it be part of the rent a room scheme? My partner does that with a lodger, and it's tax free provided it's below a certain level.
If the person in the annexe has free use of the house facilities (kitchen, bathroom etc) then it is genrally accpetable but if they can live in the annexe independently then the annexe is no longer ancillary to the dwelling and is a dwelling in its own right and should have the appropriate planning permissions.

Gov of both colours are really trying their hardest to keep volume of rental housing stock low and rents high 🤔

There was a good one last night on location location location with Phill and Kirsty.
A property worth 1.3 million and big garden and that the bottom was 2 self contained annex buildings that were basically 2 large more houses.

Thought then wonder what planning they ever had or classified with VOA council tax rates ????

We have obtained planning for a 4 bed new build in the past and since secured lawful development certificates for two lodges in the garden.
The lodges are for our clients mother and mother-in-law. They are both widows and their only family are in the house. They want some independence but they need care (both have medical issues) and both provide childcare forth their grandkids. The council was happy that both would be reliant on the occupants of the main house and it would be impractical to separate them off as independent dwellings.

But what happens when the occupants die and your left with two dwellings at the bottom of the garden :scratchhead:

As they are only there under a Lawful Development Certificate they only remain lawful whilst ancillary to the main dwellinghouse.
So if that use ceases the council can enforce their removal - they came in on a lorry, they go out on a lorry.
O ok that type of kit form garden shed type thing.
The ones on location location location tv program were proper bricks and mortor buildings Though.

They would have required planning permission as outbuildings under Permitted Development can't be used as annexes. Class E PD rights are for buildings incidental to the residential use (sheds, man caves, offices etc) but annexes are ancillary so planning permission is required.

Our lodges comply with the Caravan Act so the siting of them within a garden for ancillary use is not considered development so planning permission is not required.
