one day the pricks who make the rules will have nart to eat and no money, country is full of parasites

unfortunately ....elsewhere in the news the port of Dover is taking the government to court about moving meat import checks 22 miles inland

under the proposals lorries carrying meat arriving at Dover will be asked (I'm not even sure if it's obligatory ) to drive to the new inspection facility for checking ....of course any illegal meat could be off loaded prior

so it's more regs for us and less for imports ....you couldn't make it up

pissing down with rain traipsing round sheep sheds this morning it's enough to make me think 'feck it'....why bother🙄

The owners have been running it for over 20 years and their children don't want to take over. That sounds a bigger factor to me, but I understand why they'd use the rule excuse.
What else are they to do but close?

Anyway a decent long standing viable business with support from the community and a workforce in place according to the story. Just needs someone or a group of people to take over, surely all the farmers in the area would be keen to keep it going?
Perhaps they wouldn't sell 🤷‍♂️

A local farmer told me that a couple of weeks ago. I expressed my scepticism that it could be in any way an actual real story. He said it had been on the front page of the FG

This is just flat out staggering. Why TF would anyone with illegal meat actually voluntarily drive 22 miles to be inspected? Who TF comes up with these utterly bonkers ideas?

I was speaking to an exporter at Ashford market the other year he said he spent 5 hours at the IBF up the road with them going through the load and paperwork got to France was stuck there for 18 hours before being sent back because their was one less carcass than the paperwork stated so I don't hold out much hope for ours wherever they are if they can't even count.

I am guessing they are meaning the Inland Border Facility up the road from Ashford Market we raised that point at the time but it was just ignored. But then giving that caused chaos in the neighbouring village because they used the post code to a now dead end road that sent lorries up into the village to try going along a road we used drive in from the other end that has now gone because we couldn't get 20ft bale trailers through there due to all the parked cars.

They had to end up paying for someone to sit in a car at the junction 24/7 off the A20 to stop lorries and direct them for month.

It was on the local BBC news today ( South East Today if you want to search for it on iPlayer ) followed by the tractors blocking the roads at Dover as a second item of news.
