Anyone after a Crossllot?

I see in the press, well @Direct Driller Magazine, Cross Slot are saying that they are changing the production and distribution of European machines in order to bring down the price. Sounds good, but I bet anyone who bought one in the last few years at inflated prices is well pee'd off. The residual values of their machines will fall through the floor.

Also, Novag.

Zero till planters aren't rocket science

All that is required is
1) - the ability to handle large quantities of straw & good trash flow through the machine
2) - the ability to maintain a consistent depth & place the seed into moisture
3) - minimal soil disturbance
4) - the ability to close the seed trench & provide good seed / soil contact
5) - well engineered, robust design with minimal maintanence / down time during the planting season
6) - suited to YOUR soil types & farming conditions
7) - matched to an accurate metering & seed distribution system of a size & style that matches YOUR farming system

The rest is all bling & marketing bullshît

There are many different ways of achieving all of the above objectives

We in Australia are absolutely spoilt for choice with both domestic & imported ( mostly North American ) zero till planters, with the very fortunate position that most of the domestic manufacturers will pretty much build to your particular, customised requirements, if that's what you want.

PS - zero till is the default farming system across all of our broadacre farming areas.
I have been involved in arable farming, contract planting & contract harvesting of a huge range of arable crops from wheat, barley, chickpeas, faba beans, linseed, canola, pasture seeds, Mung beans, sunflowers, cotton, Sorghum, corn ( maize ) millet, hemp, fenugreek etc, just to name a few, from northern NSW to southern Qld to the grain belt of WA, since the late 80's. I have been on some of the largest arable farms in the world, to planting fields as small as 7 ha. I have bogged through mud to plant seeds, I have dry sowed & I have gone down 6" or more to chase moisture. I have also planted many times in ideal zero till conditions with good ground cover, good moisture & excellent soil conditions. I have extensive experience with both broadacre airseeders & precision row crop vacuum seed meters using precise seed singulation in both dryland & irrigated scenarios
I have used tynes, single discs, double discs & all 3 on parrallograms & fixed frames
Tractors tend to bore me, I'm not interested, they are just a tool to do a job as far as I'm concerned. They are just something used to pull the important & interesting bits ( the planters ). I am however, a planter nerd, I take a lot of interest in them & all makes & styles
I have NEVER seen a cross slot in the flesh . . .
They "might" be the ducks nuts, but there is more than one way to skin a cat . . .
