Anyone at NSA ram sale ? just wondered are prices are up or down ,away from the top prices (charollais/ suff / tex ) , should be up a bit but with large numbers of hoggs killed early , not so sure of demand ,
We've kept our prices from home similar to last year so far , just wanted to know where ram trade is going as ive got to pick a few out for wilton soon ,

I was there and watched the char/Suffolk ring mainly as wanted a Char that was listed.

texel was the biggest selection forward by some way I would say.

Prices where a touch up on last year I would say from the ones sold but trade selective. Some breeders not overly happy as expected more.

Top chars were massive sheep. Far far too big and going for about 2k I think. Very impressive to look at but from a commercial point of view totally pointless.

Ones I had my eye made north of £1k and had @neilo breeding on both sides. @neilo will know who the vendor was.

char average would have been £900 ish maybe but good rams could be had fur £5/600.

I came away with a ram lamb at £400 in the end. Handled very well over his back and arse but narrow shoulders.

Early ‘Builth’ (held at Brecon mart this year) Charollais average was £930 for shearlings, without any silly prices lifting that average much. Lower numbers forward and a good clearance.
No idea about other breeds as I didn’t go.
