It’s for curing earache.

You stab it on the patients foot, open the flap and rout it around a bit, by which time they've forgotten all about their earache.

It worked a treat on Kevin, but then he went home and got another bout of earache for getting blood on the carpet.

I wouldn't think so, mum use to make rugs and the thing she used was not like that, well if it is its a very big one
But to be honest I really don't know
