which part? i dont know if the op had bought it as sold as seen? but i am led to believe he paid a fair old whack for it! so if he did why not just follow common sense and sort it out, if we are led to believe paying a top price for an item! šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
I highlighted the part I was referring to... but you need to expand the quote to see it!

If a customer is unhappy with something, I'll take it back in to stock.

It's funny, though - I have had a couple of people tell me there were problems with something and they would need Ā£XXX to repair it themselves... but when I offer to take it back, suddenly the problem has rectified itself? Fancy that!

The customer is always right, is he bollix.

The disrespect to a profession by another that has such a direct symbiotic relationship and not as some suggest - parasitic is astonishing.

Sorry @box the disdain you direct towards dealers comes over as dreadfully immature.

As for the OP, I donā€™t know what has become of us. Are we that soft in the digital age that we just resort to a thread on the web compared to just getting the thing sorted amicably? How the blazes was anything ever resolved before?

Sure there are some dealers better than others, but by feck there are some customers like that too.

That's what dealer said when I bought last used tractor.

If its any bother I'll take it back. Supplied a part that was about Ā£1k free of charge and we fitted it. That failed within first week.

That's why I like speaking to customers on the phone. It weeds out the oiks.

That's a bugger! What was the part? Was it new or used?
It was a throttle potentiometer on a JCB fastrac. I gave him the old one back and he repaired it.

It was a used tractor only done 1k hours. 3 years old Still got it and consider the guy I bought it off a friend. Its 10 years old now.

Will definitely buy my next fastrac off him.

Anyways.

Didn't think they needed the PTO engaged to work.

Bought a telehandler off Richard about 17 years ago, gearbox packed up a week after Iā€™d bought it,rang him and he didnā€™t want to know, anyway I bought a tractor off him 8 years ago, reminded him at the time about the telehandler and he said ā€œIā€™m surprised you came backā€ he did however tell me not to bother with certain tractors in his yard, might have been different if I hadnā€™t had mentioned the telehandlerā€¦

I wouldn't buy a machine with a back to base warranty.

Farmers need to wise up a bit and stop throwing money at sh!t products and poor service.
UK Ag dealers are mostly very good, certainly a lot better than UK car dealers where if there is a warranty issue the usual line from them is fetch it it 3 weeks next Tuesday and we will have it plugged in for a diagnostics check, but there be a charge if we donā€™t find anything wrong.

Admission heā€™s selling shite, (I donā€™t have a problem with that if the price point reflects it) may aswell go to qf at least heā€™s not taking the pee on the markup! (Iā€™ve bought from qf before and been very happy knowing itā€™s sold as seen). Amusingly Iā€™ve seen the forementioned dealer buy straight off gf and add another 2k on and go straight on their website, who said qf only sell shite? Sure he fully tested them though

you would expect better when someone is selling stuff at the retail level he is now, you sell old machines at high retail prices you have to expect it might have issues and you will have to sort them out if you want to maintain you reputation, the markup is surely insurance for these very events.

Hats off to traders like smcapstick who will stick by there machines and offer to take them back canā€™t say fairer than that.

Ouu! Nothing like trying to pull a fast one, one thing about this sort of thread, sometimes the customer hasnā€™t a clue how to deal with somethings not being right, cannot work the logic out, maybe think their problem is the only one in the world, we get it at times, but you just have to pacify them and do your best which even at times that ainā€™t good enough for some,
