I work with Hurrells seeds I don't steel our own mixes
I addapt them to the customer liking after talking it through with him
That's a combination of our Forage Express and Clamp Buster that's been in our catalogue for s few year
I've used clamp buster myself and seen what it can do , but it's a hungry crop so I've introduce Legumes to save on firtlizer

If that’s what makes you sleep better at night crack on by all means. Your a con man and not a very good one….
‘I’ve introduced legumes to save on fertiliser’ at what point and when will these legumes begin fixing N and see an advantage over bagged N and how much nitrogen per acre do these specific breads of legumes ‘you’ve introduced’ into the mix fixate?
Is this the first year you’ve sold this mixture or has it been trialed so people aren’t buying a bag of your make believe magic…?

As for the you not stealing mixes you know I know an awful lot about where your ‘source’ material comes from Derick 🤣

So the customer wasn't happy with the hurrels mix, so you adjusted it. Does it actually do what he wants?

Seems light on grass to me.

Oh I’m sorry if you thought that was an insult. I will try much harder next time I see an opportunity to discredit your work so you can understand what a proper North Derbyshire insult really is 👍🏻

Thank you all the same for confirming what me and many others already suspect on a regular basis, that you’ve no idea what your selling it or why. Have a lovely weekend Derick

It's the same as Forage Express that's been sold for years only shorter term , he wanted to increase tonnage this year , it's always a balancing act with the amount of grass to include when you include legumes , I'm putting a field in myself and will overseed it when it thins a bit

Not sure what your getting at but as you know if you sow short term Rygrass on its own you will have to feed it heavy with something or it won't yield
But we've been here before
Throwing cheap insult's at people , not you but some of the others 🤣

Low input but needs feeding = high input,
seems like polar opposites.

One thing I would definitely do again, if sowing in the autumn, is put 5 to 7kg per ha of hairy vetch in with your other species. It has a dramatic spring growth and will grow tonnes of forage. My only concern would be the ability of other legumes to compete with it in the first spring. I wouldn't bother with common vetch although I have not specifically tried it in this situation.

You will only get one (big) cut though, before your red clover takes over for the rest of the life of the ley. For fun, and a bit of interest or a trial, I would substitute some of your red clover with a small amount of sainfoin, Lucerne sweet clover, and any other legume for around the £6 a kilo mark. (Sainfoin should be under £2).

Also white clover's a great plant but if it's a cutting mix, it might be less of a player than some of the taller species.
