App update needed for iOS

Many old apps will throw up this warning and will stop working this year. This is because the developers have not updated the app to suit, if at all recently. I have two or three on my phone that have not been updated for at least a couple of years, probably because there was no need but most likely because the developers have lost interest and gone on to do other things.

I have limited access to a PC at the moment so did find the TFF App very useful on my iPhone SE (v.1)
I find nothing whatsoever wrong with using it in either Safari or Chrome browser on my Phone. It automatically loads the mobile version and it's good. I'm typing now on the desktop/laptop version and again its as good as anyone could wish for.

If the mobile version doesn't open on the phone then there's a setting somewhere to make it do so I think. Once logged in, save the page you want to land on to your Favourites and tap on its icon or start typing the first two or three letters of 'The Farming' into the address bar and enter. If you have ticked the box to be remembered, you will be logged in automatically. What could be easier or more convenient? Nothing. Its certainly as easy to tap on the browser and then into The Farming Forum as through any other method and the layout is great.

Along with many others I do not understand the need for a dedicated app.

Getting any closer ?

Yes - the forum needs to be updated to the latest software as well. We have now tested that process twice. Some minor changes and some improvements in functionality. The APP requires us to be on that version. I've not seen it branded yet. My guess is at least another month of testing to go.

I don’t use Facebook and haven’t even looked at a page in as long as I can remember.
The browser is an app and it works perfectly.

If you are using Chrome [all devices including Apple], tap the 'More' button at the bottom right which is three dots, and 'request mobile site'
In Safari [Apple devices], tap AA at the left of the address bar and 'request mobile site'.

I don't use Firefox so can't help you if you use that, but no doubt a quick search would help.

In either Chrome or Safari you should only need to do this once. After you get the mobile site, as above, log in after ticking the box to remember you, then save the address to 'Favourites'.
A tap in the address box in Safari from then on at a fresh start, should then drop down a box with an icon [app?] to take you straight into TFF mobile site with no further logging in. Something similar with Chrome. Two taps and I'm in and it takes less than two seconds after switching the phone on every time.
If your browser app isn't on the first page of your app screens, move it there.

This is why I use an app , I also refuse to buy a gear stick car , I find changing gear such a pointless waste of time

Not sure what you are on about. Like everything you need to set it up once and for all and it then just works seamlessly. When a web site has a desktop and a mobile website and you initially land on the desktop version with your mobile, you just need to tell it once to select the appropriate site version. You have chosen to do just this by using Tapatalk app, which just hasn't been needed for at least the last five years and indeed hasn't been available for new users for probably as long. Its user base dwindled to a very low number over recent years and I'm sure that its no longer available on Google Play store or Apple App Store.

Choosing the appropriate web site format, either desktop or mobile, is pretty basic stuff and only needed for few sites and then only once. I'm sorry if my explanation sounds complicated but I can assure you that it is not.

Just to repeat , taptalk is available to everyone.
How many clicks on yours to get to main page on . Is it on your homescreen one click away ?

Tapatalk will likely be disabled at the next upgrade - I thought you could only use it on legacy versions - certainly the admin module keeps telling me it doesn't work anymore. Good that is does though, even though we haven't supported it. This will only happen when the new app becomes available - which will be supported.

@Derrick Hughes normally the site would pick up you are on a mobile and switch your view automatically. It does look odd on your phone.

Easy to add a shortcut from a website to your home page - so one click for everyone. I'd agree though, an APP is better and seems to offer a more consistent solution on mobile devices. The same is no longer true on tablets though. I would always use the main browser site.
