Or are they living on past glories.?
A big outfit down the road runs several, including crawlers and heard that they have got through 11 new engines .two other farmers both had new engines 8n more than one that they own all these are In tractors no more than couple of years old .
If this is true why are they still seen as the dogs dangglies.? They appear to be no more reliable than any other brand.
Yet their brand image is second to none.

It’s amazing what brand image can do whether that be at the top of the pile or at the bottom!! People believe in what they want to believe in. Marketeers grapple with this for years trying to get inside our heads and convince us of their current projects! Look how long it took Skoda to rise from a joke to being a serious player. Also the Korean car companies have really improved their image of late. All mechanical objects can break down even Rolls Royce’s much to many’s surprise!

Re brand image , a blender manufacturer was struggling to sell one of its products, when at a stratagie meeting much to.the horror of everyone else , someone suggested increasing the price , as a trial this they did ,and found product started to fly off the shelf. The increase in price (for exactly the same item, ) had the effect of the perception that it's expensive so it must be good .

No they’re not any more reliable than any other brand, but they are a true operator tractor that if you do 3000hrs a year in a tractor you’d be thankful for one… really nice place too spend your life… but the days of them going for 15,000 hours without a spanner on them are long gone and they’re still hanging on too that reputation some how

There's probably only a small percentage of tractor users who can really use the full potential and technology that's available on a modern high spec tractor. There will be plenty think they can or get excited over gimmicky stuff you can programme it to do but that's not the same. Id say that if you really can use the tech available and have a lot of work for the tractor to do that will be what sets a fendt apart from the rest and probably offsets some seemingly big faults (engines).
You've got to remember that to some people a tractor whilst being a necessity is still something to cherish and look at but if you are going to be employing lads to sit in them full time day and night they are a tool to get a job done and its the bottom line that matters.

My cousins youngest is a time served mechanic for a fendt and massey dealership. He says if it was his own money buying a 200hp plus tractor he would plump for a massey. Better engines, better electric wiring fendt wiring comes from Spain where as massey gets theirs from Germany. Yes fendt have driver comfort and are seen as a leader of technology. But they keep him far busier than the masseys

Go to the other side of the Agco stable for reliability.
Fendt is better than NH but worse than Valtra. MF is the worst of them all and is the same as Fendt and Valtra. Case is better than MF and NH and is the same as NH. JCB would be better than all of them if the black paint stayed on. It doesn't matter if John Deere is any good because they're green with yellow wheels.
Only problem with your scenarios is the massey has the fendt vario

ive heard things very similar with 2 ind massey dealers altho the greens are seen as the leaders with the tech & overall driver comfort, the mechanics have far more of there bonnets up it seems
weird how this plays out, fendt superior in software but less so with engine gremlins on some models, not all mind.
Massey view themselves are a premium product, maybes they are but when one dealer who sold both struggled to shift a red & greens flying out the door what does that tell you

Next door have a few of the old series Fendt and I can understand that as they won’t lose money now, also a newer 820 and loader.

I do have to smile a bit when I see the 820 out with a double round bale carrier on the back and spike on the front.:scratchhead::ROFLMAO:

Also know of a new 516 which is on a livestock farm ,circa 250 acre and doesn’t do that many hours, pays your money…….

To sum up:

1st place: Valtra.
2nd place: Fendt
3rd place: Case.

We got it. (y)

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) alongside the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), has named new farm safety champions and commended the outstanding work on farm safety that has been carried out in the farming community in the last 20 years.

Two of these champions are Malcom Downey, retired principal inspector for the Agri/Food team in HSENI and Harry Sinclair, current chair of the Farm Safety Partnership and former president of the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU).

Improving farm safety is the key aim of HSENI’s and the FSP’s work and...
