Cravendale extended Life milk is Arla's baby, is it not ?

Why then should my BiL have got a 2l bottle dated 18th Sept which has gone lumpy and seperated out.

My opinion is that the retailer considers it to be on a par with UHT and stores it incorrectly.
As with almost all milk keeping issues the cause will be incorrect storage temperature.

Please pass my observations on to the powers that be.

He now is going to start to look for "Organic" milk which seems to be the most reliable form of liquid drinking milk, and least likely to suffer from taints, probably because it tends to be put through the plant first thing after the sanitizing process...
Likely the same reason I opened our beef for dinner yesterday to find it off despite being well in date. Incorrect storage or faulty packaging at some point or other between it leaving the cow and it being brought home. You’d be amazed how quickly something will go off with a pinprick in the packaging or when stored in a fridge which is couple of degrees too warm.

I’m sure there’s contact details on the packaging to deal with such a matter

The extended life is because it has been ultra filtered to remove more of the bacteria naturally present. It still must be refrigerated through out the retail chain and at home. We buy cravendale every week for the last ten years and only one occasion have we had an off one, where the seal had failed, so it is very unusual but not impossible.

Ok, just had my Arla garden 2nd visit because I had 8 minors from the first visit, most of which were debatable, especially the the gaps around the dairy door where you could just about see daylight! I’ve put some draft excluder up, job done. But can someone explain the difference between that tiny gap in my dairy door and the massive gaps (the open air!) that exist around outdoor milk silos that several large dairy farms have and all of Arla’s factories have?

Same here, from first visit. Have ordered draft excluders too. I think it would have been easier to have an exterior tank. If rodents really wanted to get in , draft excluders, foam sheet filling , or even thin steel sheet won’t stop them!

Apparetly didn't collect milk around Llandyrnog this week. They wanted it down aylesbury which would of been all day for one load rather than 2 to the midlands.

Shouldn't the staff questionaire include family members? Because if they can get paid more some where else why would you work at home for less? Just a thought

If you have a silo the access has to be sealed. For me the tanker access it inside the dairy. The access to the silo both top and bottom should be locked when no one is in attendance to stop any one tampering with the milk. Also got caught out on the door gaps and too be fair vermin could have got under the door. Same rules exist in red tractor but haven’t been policed in the same way.

Who's running a pumped system for their buffer tank? I need to be able to move milk from the little tank in the background to the big tank in the foreground.

My initial idea was to get a milk pump identical to the main one so I always have a spare but the quote was a little terrifying.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
