Whats going on in the other European countries Arla deals in. We normally hear that Germany is holding us back etc?

The UK market is strong, currently propping up the Amba price (its not happened very often) especially when you take into account the currency smoothing.

Is supply tight in these other countries?

Germany certainly has been a problem with strong retailers, short contracts and divided farmers . However arla took the bold move to pull out of supermarket contracts a few months back due to dire price , this shocked the retailers I believe who thought they held all the cards ! As it was it looks , a bit by luck ,a bit by judgement to be a very good move as within a few weeks of pulling out the markets have turned and all that milk will return far more to members as traded milk than in those contracts which were on offer . Hopefully this will have schooled the retailers over there a bit that it is also in their interests to work together with their suppliers and not just their suppliers interests , a bit like they do here . Going forward the improved market will buy us some time to try and find a more secure long term home for that milk .

Meant to put this up at weekend. Interesting survey anybody shed any light? Popped up on you tube when we were listening to music at a barbecue.

Interesting comment about the customer only wanting Arla milk. Hope you've asked which one and why. Thats what would be asking. Also is that new demand? Year round? Liquid, do you buy back the cream. How has it increased haulage. But of course being a vice chair rep you have asked all those already.

Couldn't really tell you at the time due to it not being public then but here's the reason our customer 'Mcdonalds' only want Arla milk (y)

Yay congrats @McDonalds winning the @ciwf good dairy award for using @ArlaFoodsUK #organic milk in their restaurants #GFAWApic.twitter.com/NUTnAuxb7Q

  • Hence the questions you said I needed to ask like do we buy the cream back etc were all irrelevant as they use our own Arla Organic branded four pints .
  • Huge well done to our colleagues in Arla :)

Wasn't it was the customer was the secret not the Award??
No , I just chose not to disclose to you who the customer was as it was irrelevant to the post

Wasn't it was the customer was the secret not the Award??

It was never a secret my milk was going to Mcdonalds , only the fact about the CIWF award meaning they only want milk direct from Arla farms and not milk swaps or what ever you wish to call them . It was originaly just a post about being happy to have my milk collected by Arla in branded trucks , it was only from your constant picking that any of this was mentioned .

Just checked back through the PM you sent me telling me to ask more questions as Arla are not telling me the real reason my milk is now collected by Arla , in response then I specifically told you ' I think I am capable of finding out the reason for my milk going to this customer , the reasons will come out in time and I will let you know as soon as it's not confidential , it's all good believe me ( I know you won't !) '
And so I believe it's a bit disingenuous of yourself to try and now pretend it was not the reason behind the change that I was keeping confidential and not the customer just to try and score points .

Ok fair enough. It was the customer only wanting "Arla garden" milk being the reason.
Hats off to you.

In response Sid to your complaint that I quoted what I had told you in a PM , I apologize , it is not something I would normally do but it was in response to you trying to make it look like I was deliberately trying to mislead people , quoting myself was just to show this not to be the case and that you knew that .
I also deliberately do not use your real name on here nor hunt down your personal social media accounts and publish them on here to knowingly try to mislead people . You published my twitter account , my name and photo of myself with my terminally ill Daughter , I have no problem with that as I have nothing to hide and all of us are desperately proud of our daughter and what she achieves ,I would not of put her picture on social media if I did want to hide her away and I think she could teach us all something about positive mental attitude in the face of adversity, so please don't feel in anyway bad by posting that :) But is it not a bit hypocritical to do that and then try to call foul on myself ?
Look I have no personal bone to pick with yourself , as I keep saying both on here and in PM's I think your company is a great company and does a great deal of good for our industry and that must be a reflection on it's members and farmer board , I know you will never feel that way about our co-op and that's perfectly fair enough ,but does this constant spiteful attacks on anything arla or it's members do serve any of us any good ? Arla has a great working relationship with Omsco as far as I'm aware and long may that continue , after all as I keep saying we are all on the same side here , and anything that adds value to our markets , like Kingdom Cheddar , or CIWF awards for farmer owned organic milk into mcdonalds must be good for us all .
We need to be more united as an industry not constant infighting , it does not matter whether organic ,conventional , free range or super efficient housed system , as long as it's adding value and money coming back to the farm it has to be mutually beneficial to us all (y)
Just to reiterate I apologize for quoting my response in a PM .......Truce ?
