ATL cowculator and micro M5 control unit

Anyone using it at all?

My feed panel in the parlour is on its last legs and I cant get my ATL OOPF panel to work (again quite old)

Having spoken to ATL to replace the bits I need would cost me £2,000

OR

I can have a brand new M5 unit for £1600 which would control both the parlour and OOPF but would need a thingymajig to convert my auto id in the parlour as its the old stuff or something like that (i hate this sh!t and dont tend to pay attention)

Anyway to have a brand new box would be £2,000 so it seems almost a no-brainer.

Their feed system (cowculator) which I think links up with my milk metres (really should try and pay attention) so hopefully would record daily yields (something not currently done) costs £700 and will do feed to yields, oopf visits, uneaten cake etc for me so again sounds good. Also looks like it will do medicines etc which would be handy.

is anyone using the cowculator programme and is it any good

TIA

The m5 is a no brainer .

Whose meters do you have but taking daily yields is a huge advantage and allows fees to yield which you will like. If not atl meters there is quite often another box that costs to link to the m5.

I have an m5 and cowculator. However all I use is cowculator as the link to get the data into uniform.

Uniform is a much better herd management program. However cowculator does have all the basic functions you will need think it might even have a bcms link. It will make sorting the feed to the parlour and outer parlour a doddle. Just put in once how you want it done and leave it to work it out every day. Simply modify when diet changes.
Always check your feed after an alteration.
Fault was at my end but one alteration meant all cows got 22 kg am milking.

Thanks I'm thinking exactly the same

My milk metres are gea metatron 12 so probably will need something to convert as you say

I'm hoping it will save me quite a bit of time as currently I have to input all rations manually and that relies on me remembering and having time so end up feeding more cake than I should be to some and vice versa
