hello, I'm looking for some help from any of you that maybe can, firstly yes vets are involved.
I'm suffering a out break of something that is rapidly killing the ewes, pregnant, empty and rams, it starts very quick with out much warning, the ewe will be up eat its feed, or feeding at feeder, cudding etc showing no signs of problem, but when it goes down with this issue it will start to stand their, ears down face to floor, not trembling and on vets looking not always running a temperature, but if they do their slightly hotter,(their sheared and on cold days) their breathing is struggled, shortly after he she will start to drowl and its 50/50 to weather their eat, cake or even ivy.
this happens with in sometimes less than an hour it will be down drowling and not responding to anything, ie pen strep, draxin, zuprevo, betamox, emgymycin, reason I'm using these is on vets saying worth trying, not overly me experimenting,
firstly vets thought twin lamb though was treating for this at same time as generally the stress bought it on, which was agreed by vets right to do, using glucose and calcium, this did nothing and seeming rams and emptys was suffering wasn't convinced this was so.
the vets have taken bloods and pm's the bloods was clear though in poorer ones low slightly in calcium which from stress in them pregnant was expected with this issue.
the pm'ed ones, one had a blackend liver bacteria was found but which type unknown?
the second had puss all around heart, and lungs, lungs slightly blistered one side which could be due to side she died on, so vet thought possible, again the bacteria unknown but showing a pulmonary disease.
when moving them when dead they will pool liquid from their nose and mouth, the pussy goo I guess found in pm'ed one. thought was could be 2 different probs, as she wasn't drowling
so that's a bit of what their doing my hope is maybe someone has came across something similar to give us an idea, as at moment the vets are at a loss to what it might be from tests already done, I will be hearing again from them to what eles they might have come up with, my first point to them was maybe jaggasea, spelt wrong sorry not the best speller. but was told wouldn't spread to others usually isolated cases.
one other I said was listerossis which I did have an out break of 3 years ago, did have another start out break this year early on and stopped feeding that fields hay, 2 weeks later cases stopped but these almost all responded to treatment and the symptoms are different in these no circling or craning knecks back etc. was clear on tests too.
sorry for long post but tried to add as much hope as I could for any experience any of you might of had, thank you for your time
