Baler issues

Hi all,

just bought a Massey 185 baler (same as a Heston). Seems to be working but it’s clattering a fair bit from in front of the slip clutch, the overrun clutch and UJ seems to have a fair bit of wobble in it, is there a bushing or a bearing to replace in there to stop it clattering about so much? The other thing is the feeder slip indicator on the baler flashes up 25%+ when the baler is revved up over 650rpm. Stays on 0 up to that point. I’m assuming the inductive sensor isn’t working right, does anybody know where it’s located?
Also any tips on running the baler would be appreciated. Thanks

Not entirely sure on that baler but look on the shaft coming out of the gearbox behind the flywheel the sensor will be on the one going to the rhs of the baler. also check the bearing on the drive end of the feeder.

That’s the bushing (I think) inside the UJ where it connects into the overrun clutch. Loads of slop. Assuming it needs a new bushing. Any idea how to strip it down to get to that bit? The guards all seem to be welded in place from the factory

The guards should unbolt of the box section then you'll have to strip the slip clutch down off the fly wheel I'd go to big bale services parts Gary is very helpful can usually talk you through it on the phone.
Thanks, managed to get it off and stripped down for some reason won’t let me send photos. The overrun clutch is absolutely knackered, the shaft is worn away inside really and the UJ is ovalled out. I think the outer teeth are ok, a bit worn but will do. Will probably all need replacing as I doubt it would be any cheaper to get it machined. All sounded sweet when it was run up for me in the previous owners yard! Don’t suppose you know anywhere to go for second hand parts? I have a feeling new ones off of Massey will be £££££

On the sensor issue.
There's a sensor in the left hand door of the pick-up.
That may need adjustment.
Or if you've got a bearing gone/going or the bearing lock ring is loose it will be wobbling about , altering the gap the sensor needs
