Ban Wood burning Stoves

And, to be fair, it covers a load of other stuff as well

New action on domestic fuels, construction machinery, shipping, dust from tyre wear and industrial emissions has been promised today by the government in a bid to improve air quality across the nation.

I read a report, I'll try and dig it out, that stated that 50% of particulate emissions form road vehicles was from tyre, brake and clutch dust.
and I think sleeping policeman, cause that to increase, with all the slowing down and speeding up

I believe being able to light a fire to keep warm is close to a fundamental human right. It goes right back to the beginnings of our origins as a species. Fire lifts the spirits in a way no radiator ever could.

If some clipboard wielding eejit had turned up this freezing March when the log burner was the only thing keeping the house habitable and several hypothermic lambs alive I don’t think I could have guaranteed his safety!

I agree, something primal about sitting round a real fire, it warms the soul in a way that central heating never can

I'm finding it totally amazing that we have 4 pages of discussion about wood burning stoves and not a single comment on my thread about the proposals to ban use of surface application of urea fertiliser unless inhibitors are used, and dramatically tighten up on slurry and manure storage and application rules!!!!

Dont worry about wood burning stoves, they are now proposing to ration water!

I just hope the statisticians don't tumble to the fact that most people who die have been eating FOOD!
Building lots of housing in East Anglia, and other areas of water shortage is pretty twp, and it has been known for years, I could never understand how central government has allowed this to continue, I could say the same about local planners allowing building on good agricultural land (or water meadows and flood plains), but maybe the local planners are adhering to rules from central government doh!

About time you custodians of the land stopped using plastic. I'm off to buy some sisal baling twine now and maybe some potato starch silage wrap while I'm there.

I found this video online which appears to be the middle ground regarding burning dryer logs instead of anything. I'm waiting for my first order to arrive this week.

Gove will be PM in the new year in my opinion
Followed by disastrous General Election campaign and a decade of Jeremy Corbyn govt
We’re Doomed
A Corbyn government wouldn't last 10 years - it would be bankrupt in 2-3. If the Cons can't balance the books with the current austerity, you can be sure that Comrade Jeremy's plans to renationalise everything and pump billions into the NHS & welfare isn't going to end well.
