Band castrating 4 to 5 month old bulls

Is anyone here successfully doing this? Any issues with clostridium or other calf issues? Always used the burdizzo here but looking for other options. Vet mentioned the band's so wanted to see if anyone has practical experience.

Very much banned here.
It'd be brutal on em at that age.

I've once seen someone -could've been out of the UK mind- do what you're suggesting, and it is not pretty.

Get the vet to cut em.

You use different bands on those size calves. Callicrate banders work good, also heard good things about the California bander.

Generally done with a nerve block and NSAID and tetanus shot.

Can’t see it being that illegal if the vet is suggesting it. Probably just need to use the proper protocol. Unless they’re saying band at birth instead of waiting until 4-5 months.

To be fair, i'd be more concerned about grabbing a bull by the balls with my head in the firing line, although I've only dealt with lims, so maybe a kick in the head would do me good.
They don’t usually kick high, especially if they’re tail jacked.

More sketchy cutting them because those tiny hops can still send a scalpel quite deep into various body parts.

Saw a batch my brother did , a mess like you couldn't believe, mind you it might just have been the way he put them on, not that sharp around stock
