Hi I’m just after people’s thoughts I’m looking at new to us sprayer and am torn between a rb26 3000lwith VG 32m booms or a rb35 4000l on standard 24m booms. Both are roughly the same price or within a few grand so price not so much of an issue just wondered which would have more capacity all fields are pretty square and flat but some land is 8miles from yard so travelling speed is a issue as well but both will be a lot better than my 30kph Househam. Thanks

I don't think capacity would be the deciding factor for me. Buying second hand SP should all be on condition, buy off farm if you can & look to see how 'tidy' the spot is, often that will be a good indication of how they look after machinery.

Owner operators are generally have a more sympathetic driving style & spuds can kill a boom.

But I'd say a bigger tank would have bigger capacity, in an ideal world a big tank & boom

VG boom is far superior to contour, in ride and strength, but 35 obviously has more tank capacity. It is also nice having brakes on a 35, never know when you might need to stop quickly

VG gives more options going forward ie even though its 32m you can still spray at 24m. If you decide to go to 27/28/30 or 36 then change a section and it can all happen and still spray 24m. Stronger boom also on VG but heavier . I had contour for 15 years and it works but VG would be my choice even at 24m for my type of work on steep and rolling country.
I went 35 for the brakes !

I know of a 26 with a 4000l tank so have the VG and then increase the tank at a later date. All they did was cut the top off and welded in a collar basically then put the top back on. I don’t think they upgraded the pump or anything like that.
