I though rice was the biggest producer or nitrous oxide but not a single mention in that article!

I really do hope we see a world shortage of food...not a good thing to say ..but it would soon turn the anti farming brigade's opinions. It could, happen again,a massive volcanic eruption causing cold weather across the globe..
Just look at current grain prices. The world is not "awash" with food at the moment. It wouldn't take much to tip things further.

This all ends with them taking your land, and then having a massive famine, thats called socialism.

Then the over throw occurs and capitalism comes back in again.

Thats how the cycle rolls.

I have no doubt in my life time i will see some pretty wild sh*t when it comes to food and the city slickers knowing more than than the rich white destructive farmer.

Ant....

That would only help the push towards frankenfoods... the message will be "If we can't rely on farmers then we need to come up with alternative options...." Soylent Green anyone?

So the days of the intervention stores full of grain, butter, milk powder. Frozen beef are long gone? Are there any massive reserves of say wheat kept for an emergency in this country?
There will be no spare grain in store by the next harvest
The uk store of grain is currently in the field growing
when it is harvested it will be in farmers and merchants stores

there is no strategic reserve held by the govenment it was all sold off when food mountains got a bad name in the 1990s
most food processors have very little stock they rely on just in time delivery
this works well last March 2020 when the pandemic started and disrupted the system the response time was very quick
the biggest issue was that flour normally distributed in 20 kg bags or bulk was needed in 1kg or 500g bags
