Ok to put in as a base in deep litter sheds when first bedding up in the autumn or after a mid winter mucking out, otherwise, unless it is very different to the stuff I have seen, not much cop.

chop bean straw in a chopper to have good straw for absorption and also easier to compost and take out and work in slats....can save £60 / ton on straw

A friend has been using it and was wondering about how easily it breaks down, would it need heaping up to rot. With straw he usually spreads straight out on grass for silage as he never exactly over beds the cattle.
