bean stubble

Suspect they would be a good feed but don't know if they would be frost tolerant or not. Would need to be enough in the field to make it worth fencing off and moving the sheep and paying a bit of money to the neighbor. How many ton of fodder beet , tipped on the grass would be its feed equivalent ?

My sheep have been on the volunteer beans. They do seem to eat some but they prefer the grass margins, hedge rows and the volunteer wheat in the adjacent field... . Frost may slow them down but I have seen ours survive a period of -10 and them dominate a autumn drilled wheat until they got sprayed out. Presumably the neighbour is going to spring crop or fallow the land? You could offer to graze them as a tidy up service but I wouldn't expect to pay much if anything for doing so, especially if you need to fence and water them.
