Beef Cattle Housing in East Scotland?

So I already posted a thread on something similar to this, but I wondered, does anyone know, do beef farmers in the East of Scotland tend to bed on straw, or use slats or Orkney sloping sheds or whatever? If anyone knows, I'd be very greatful! I'm interested in who's got to deal with slurry rather than FYM. Thank youuuu :)

The vast majority of beef cattle in East Scotland would be bedded with straw in pens. I can think of some dairys who did bull beef on slats but I'm not sure if they still do it.

Can see some putting up sheds with slats with the cost of straw.

Straws a pain. Try and get it dry at harvest to bale it. Cart bales in. Takes up a lot of shed space all winter. Roll out bales or put through bedder.Try and cart dung out on frosty/dry winter days. Same with spreading it. At least with slurry you just handle it once, cart it out and spread it. We're using sawdust instead of straw in some sheds this winter.

Is there a big price difference or is it to do with the bed quality?
It's a fair bit cheaper per ton. £20/ton as opposed to about £65/ton for straw but they'd have different absorbency rates. We've got one shed on sawdust only, other sheds use it in front of bunkers and down pass sides. Does save a fair bit of straw.
