If the subs go it certainly will be carnage in the beef/lamb sectors unless prices increase by 50% on todays prices!

Well probably should of stayed at home but how much worse is it going to get 42kg Cheviot Mules £62.50 40kg Charley out of Cheviots £63 average £1.52

We got a couple of pens of mule hoggs for £150, first mules in 5 years but like breeding my own gimmers... was plenty of small badly shaped things £60-75

Just like 20 odd to get some replacements...most ewes now beltex and Texel cross

These were as big as shearlings...and I’d rather buy lambs...the substantial luck money helped the job

Sorry Shebb90 my comment wasn't aimed at you but the fact that the market reports highlights in red the average of £1058 and thus by doing so are trying to make out it was a really good trade when that sort of average for prime cattle in this day and age is a complete nonsense and far too low!

I was only there on the Monday and didn’t spend all day there....but good well bred well grown lambs were a good trade anything else was cheap...some no more than fat prices

Out of interest where do you send your cattle to?

All go deadweight mainly due to TB and also because they are either young bulls/ crappy Fri cattle or named sire cattle so can get the bonus ( hopefully ).

Current returns for prime cattle are a complete waste of time tbh!

Aye and no doubt as he is canny and very lucky he will be selling his prime hoggs next spring for £200 head and them ewe lambs will look cheap!
