You have to give Scotbeef credit though. Angus is the only “brand” of beef in the supermarkets and is the only breed with a price premium and point of difference (Devon cattle do have this to a lesser extent in southwest in Waitrose).
Ahdb should have done the same thing in England with Herefords and Lincoln reds etc.

Thing is we had Angus bulls 35/40 years ago and they were shite then. Most people that have bought them can’t remember how bad they were then.
Einsteins theory of idiocy is doing the same thing and expecting different results
We sometimes used Milk Board Angus on our dairy heifers for easy calving then. They were even more shite. Some werent even easy calving either. I maybe thought Angus out of a Blue suckler cow,the calves might be a bit better, but as you say,i might just be proving Einsteins theory out a bit more.

Angus, most popular breed worldwide after Brahman. They must do something right.
My margins are certainly higher with them and herefords, than when we used continentals.
Don't get me wrong continentals have their place but inputs are to high for me (y)
Balanced, reasonable posting. I think @JP1 should have a quiet word with you, the forum needs controversy and bluster!

Visited a few large ranches in the US and Canada, nearly all Angus, hereford or baldies. We need to tell them they are doing it all wrong :banghead:

I thought he ran a char bull over his blue cows?
I used to run a char bull over the blue cows but when he went I replaced him with a lim as weights limits reduced.

Fairly sure he had a run of pics up of angus x calves off his blue cows and they looked superb.

Very kind of you to say unfortunately they're not Angus's. All lim x out of the blue so whilst they may have looked good for Angus's that means they are only poor/average looking for a lim ?. The angus premium has tempted me but I hate the breed with a passion so have held off for now.
