When a country with as many mouths to feed as china starts to go short of anything the world will feel it. They only need to shift eating habits due to grain shortages and food prices will rise worldwide. Farmers have always said we need food to go short for the general public to realise its worth ,and the run on supermarkets at the start of covid might have just been the warm up act for whats to come

Check your wheels!

There was a fatal accident earlier this week in Devon when a wheel came off a livestock box and very sadly it hit and killed a chap walking his dog so please everyone check your trailer tyres/ spare wheels etc, will only take seconds but may save a life.
Those trailer wheel bearings that design should be banned. The old ones had a washer on the nut to stop that happening. Sometimes no amount of checking can stop that. If the bearing picks up then the wheel is off.

I was once taking a load of lambs to put onto a wagon in a council depot just off a motorway junction...on the way there a wheel flew off and bounced away down the fell, never did see it again.
When i got to the depot there was a police car there prob having his break, as well as the artic lorry....it was interesting rocking up on 3 wheels, i had to manoeuvre my trailer so as he never saw the side with the wheel off, a bit of reversing here and there and i managed to unload and away home without him seeing!

A lot of folks that use those trailers have had this happen with no warning. Bloody bad design. Wheel bearings don’t last forever but there’s no need in this day and age for the wheel and the hub to be ejected to wherever it pleases to go

Full of bull(s)

If I’m right, those bulls at £2.66 at Darlington would need to be handy to £4.50/kg/dw to match - if Ko of 60%?
About £4-£4.10/kg. Bulls like those at those weights do 63-68% from auction weight. Best E grade fed stock bulls can do over 70%. Still a good price considering weight/age compared to mainstream deadweight but the firms buying these aren’t putting them into plastic trays on supermarket shelves
