Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Well i use the phrase : Off the clock most weeks but today the store cattle trade at Exeter was : Off the clock and away in the clouds!!

Steers averaged ( for everything including Fri steers etc ) a mind blowing £1170 head with heifers averaging £1034 for every animal penned!

At £4 a kilo most of the animals sold today will struggle to cover costs let alone show a modest profit!

On the couples, 414 ewes with 649 lambs topped out twice to £305 outfit, overall average was £80 life, pen after pen £110/120 life but these were strong ewes with superb lambs around the late 30 kilo+ mark.

A massive entry of 168 orphan lambs topped out at £50 head for a 3 week old Jacob ewe lamb.
If we drop 50p lots of folk are in serious trouble.

Well my pure exlanas made the same per kg as my beltex and charolais x's on Tuesday. But it certainly wasn't 336p.
313p. We still don't see the prices of "up north,". South Molton didn't even get an sqq of £3 Thursday.

Welsh sqq is at 310p later this week, so presumably half the lambs sold are below that.

Market reports rarely tell the full story, but they are written to promote trade for the following week.

You are one of these ‘the best price isn’t the best profit’ types? I see
Mine were half tups as well remember!
I live in the middle of nowhere on a hill top
Mine seen more snow than owt else
I was just thinking though if yours were ‘expertly fattened’ does that mean I’m an expert now as well??🤓
“Expertly finished” if you don’t mind! 😂 according too the Bentham report my Cheviot hoggs were “superbly drawn” 😁 what a crock of sh!t. 😂😂

I suppose it’s only fair too call you an expert too then! 😁

If you could see some of the things we finish here you’d tell I definitely don’t follow the best price = best profit school of thinking! 😂😂

I couldn’t let these southerners show us lot up here how it’s done
It’s just not happening like
Even if it costs me a few more quid worth every penny @Purli R
SOUTHERNER?! SOUTHERNER?!

Right, that’s it. The gloves are off.

I’m Northern, Midlands at a push!! I can’t believe you’ve just offended me like that. And I thought we were mates!! I even offer too call you an expert Hogg finisher and you call me a southerner!! If we end up at the same store sales next autumn you’ll not get a cheap lamb that day!

Southerner he says. Pah, I don’t believe it!!!!!

😉😁😁

Been driving into the fields with a 10 tonne trailer full of cake and filling hoppers with a loader
Neighbours look on in fear of the cost!!

Up North we look at Manchester 130 miles South as midlands, add another 130 miles and you are down South.
Not sure how anybody can argue with that.

I stick too the 400kg auger bucket on the merlo!

Fair enough, all you need too do is take back the “Southerner” and we can continue almost as if nothing has happened. 😁

@livestock 1 take note. According too @Raider112 I’m firmly a Midlander. Being 12 miles from Manchester City centre. NOT a southerner from down south!

I had too accept being called a southerner in Dingwall last year but seeing as I’d driven 400 miles north I couldn’t really argue. (But it irked me too be called a southerner! 😂)

A beef and sheep friend of mine has got a 20t cake bin and farms in the middle of two nosey neighbours.

He gets 3t delivered every three weeks and tells the driver to spout about that he fills it up!

I think it's nuts but finds it hilarious when the whispers come back to him "how the fek does he get it to pay!"
