Yes but why suddenly more so…
Cull ewes are NOT expensive currently, they are trading at the levels they should be at with current input prices!

It is the hogg's and Spring lamb trade that is not where it should be/ needs to be at the current time with current input prices where that are at now!

On the grain thread Wheat ex combine this harvest is being sold at £285 tonne... Makes a complete mockery of current hogg/lamb prices!

But as an aside Exeter averaged £138 for cull ewes yesterday ( up about £21 on the week )

GUTH cool your fans I agree with you…
Finished cattle should be 3k a piece by now, finished lambs/hoggs should be £200 a piece.

anyone who’s thinks current prices are good wants a slap across the giggots

Im not sure things were looking that great, the sheep job was on its knees, foot and mouth was tough, but it halved the sheep flock and prices seemed to pick up accordingly afterwards.
Yes just before 2001 sheep job was dire. Had a decent lambing that year although it pee'd down every day kept a few extra ewes put to bfl tup think 600 mule gimmers av £24 the wedders av £25 made a decent job of them too
A few days after wrote a cheque out for grass keep for £10,000
The good old days again
