Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Funny that on the discards - Ask for the condemed one back for the dogs as its my property if not paid for.......... always, always 100% an error and its either gone missing or swinging in the fridge.
A condemned carcase would be category two animal byproduct, so you couldn't get it back.

If you have anything condemned, ask for a rejected meat receipt to be completed by the vet or meat inspector.

More clear ups in Rugby today. 35 sold to average 46.6kg @ 194p/kg. Had some 53.5kg's up to £102.50. A big entry of lambs and cull ewes so didn't stop to see any ewes sold. Trade seemed very sticky, buyers messing about a bit, but generally meated lambs were £1.90 - £2.00. Anything small or lean was reflected in the price.

Clear ups at 46kg and 53kg? You must be joking. They would be my best prime.

Ah but they've had to go to that weight before they were fit! They're all clear ups to me once we're down to the last 50 or so! I'd sooner they were gone at 40kg in May but there we go!

Buyers messing a bit? That's an understatement :ROFLMAO:

I had two pens through today, one pen of really smart 40kg at 80.5 and a heavier pen (41.5) of not so smart lambs at 79.

it's the same over here, there must be demand for the heavier lamb from somewhere, we got £92.50 for 51kilo th other week.

Big order in ROI for heavy lambs going for export to continent for upcoming Muslim festival is driving the price. Heavy lambs into over £100 in our local mart last week.

Good for the trade but have to say the other half of me isn't overly comfortable with the final destination waiting for those lambs in France or where ever they end up.

that's true but there has been strong trade for heavy lambs for a few months now, not just for the Muslim festival .
