down.. heavys over 45Hit meaning up in price?
Neil MaCleary was at Hexham yesterday and told me that Longtown trade was good, average about 202p overall,on 5000 sold.I should have gone with a small load, instead of trying to put fat through the store ring at Hexham. The worst feeling you can get is if you have a poor trade for whatever reason, and everyone else has a good one.I don't know about prices in other markets, but Longtown heavies were up
Got to love Niel. Don’t be too upset by people telling you that you are selling at the wrong place at the wrong time. I am always that person. Niel was watching me sell ewes through Carlisle years ago and he came over with the same story ‘should have had these at Longtown’ haha he knew that I had some of the same at Longtown the week before and they made less! They've not been paying for heavy lambs all season down here. Last time I went a cracking run of lambs before me 46 kg made £91. 52 kilos made £96. No money in that last 6kg.Heavy lambs took a big hit in the market Thursday..any one know why..
Very true, he’s done that to me before, given up trusting what auctioneers tell you tbhGot to love Niel. That sounds interesting @runny egg! Are you a Nuffield scholar? Care to impart the edited highlights so far?View attachment 760234 For anyone interested what’s going on down under in NZ, one of many d/w prices sent out every week. I leave NZ tomorrow for South America and more fact finding...

I have witnessed auctioneers ‘milking’ folks over the years with perfection. Don’t be drawn in. When the piggy bank is empty they will move onto the next one. Makes their job easier. I’ve seen it happenVery true, he’s done that to me before, given up trusting what auctioneers tell you tbh

Go sedge today? Has it effective store price much?Honiton is about £5 ahead of deadweight now that deadweight quotes have dropped back to £4.05/10pk a kilo.
From what I could gather today talking to several people that most have cancelled the lambs they had booked in for deadweight for next week because they are disgusted that the price has dropped so much when liveweight has gone up in the past week.
And now the plants are apparently ringing around out of desperation trying to get lambs because they are now short of lambs for next week!
