What’s happening with teeth this year? I’ve got some texel ewe lambs I’ve ran round dry, will I have to tooth them before killing in a few weeks?

Pretty sure dunbia and Rpf leave kidney knobs and channel fat in. Kepak don’t I think. Depending on the size of the lamb that’s anywhere between 0.5 and 0.75kg of carcass. Although I may be talking total rubbish. I’m fairly confident that’s right.

Yes Dunbia and rpf are tail off KK and channel fat in, mertha are KK and cf out, abp also remove any excess internal fat. Abp should be 15-20p ahead and keypak 10-15p ahead to compensate for the less scale weigh

If the price stays where it is and numbers short then they won't be looking very hard unless they want to drop the price on them in the abattoirs.

Need to be checked at auctions or mart can be fined per sheep by abattoir

can you put them in the stores (declared) ?, if its tex cross ewe lambs , might be a punter to buy for breeders

They tried that with us and when we asked for the ear numbers they couldn't or wouldn't supply them. They were checked as well though but not until April.
It is odd that it is so important to the consumer when the head is not connected to the carcase!

£60 per sheep fine unfortunately unless they are behind with their account in that case they probably keep shtum

From the 1st March ( i think is the start date ) Sedge are charging insurance on all store lambs sold as so many of them are now being killed within 7 days of the auction!

maybe we should follow exeters lead and sell the lot as stores ungraded , seems to make little difference to price yet higher charges

A store sheep is what it says if they don’t like it the buyer should check them themselves

All they have said is that they are going to charge insurance for store lambs as so many are now going straight to kill but i imagine it is for the reasons you state above.

If you sign the entry form and its worded correctly that will include the FCI part as well ( rightly or wrongly )

Will be intresting to see the average ££ per head for Sedge on Friday for their store lambs but from what i gather it was a good £4/5 head less than Exeter the same day!
All excess funds from the store lamb insurance fund is going to the Derek Mead health room ( thou of course that has been shut for nearly 12 months due to the virus and no sign of it opening again sadly in the next 12 months either! )
