Aren't the in spec 405 /410Woodheads finally bit the bullet -- £4.00 / kilo base for in spec cattle . Bet they had to lie down in a darkened room for half a day after posting that!
On this weeks trade a mile out.22kg @ 640p is £140. Is that so far out for ‘normal’ lambs?
You will have a good trade there guaranteed but you will get your arse kicked on weight guaranteed lot of big hogs there won't mind having 3 or 4 kilos off I supposeWhats driving all roads to Thirsk at the moment? 4666 hoggs in @ 320p overall.
Yes plus your gradesAren't the in spec 405 /410
I spoke to them this morning and they where only on £6 , they hadn’t set price for Monday at that time, I did tell her Terry better sharpen his pencil if he wants lambs next weekF Fresh text says £6.40/kg for Sunday collection, price is for lambs which I guess means Hoggs not nsl

My lambs live 45.37 kg 336.43p £152.64 per head
@Anymulewilldo is now a "Superb Drawer" of hoggs! You are one of these ‘the best price isn’t the best profit’ types? I see
Mine were half tups as well remember!
I live in the middle of nowhere on a hill top
Mine seen more snow than owt else
I was just thinking though if yours were ‘expertly fattened’ does that mean I’m an expert now as well??
What is a “normal lamb” my lambs this week out of Cheviot mules by Texel ram, just a good commercial lamb off turnips well fleshed which would have been badly undersold on the dead !I suspect they may have been a bit better than an R3L lamb that would attract the base price (even an O at Farmers Fresh iirc).
Would that type of lamb (mule wethers, etc) make 336p in the live market too?
I agree lw will win handsomely on the better type of lambs, but half the lambs sold will be below the sqq of 310p...
Will my pure Exlana lambs make 336 p/kg?

Ewes with 38-40kg lambs on sold as couples?Well i use the phrase : Off the clock most weeks but today the store cattle trade at Exeter was : Off the clock and away in the clouds!!
Steers averaged ( for everything including Fri steers etc ) a mind blowing £1170 head with heifers averaging £1034 for every animal penned!
At £4 a kilo most of the animals sold today will struggle to cover costs let alone show a modest profit!
On the couples, 414 ewes with 649 lambs topped out twice to £305 outfit, overall average was £80 life, pen after pen £110/120 life but these were strong ewes with superb lambs around the late 30 kilo+ mark.
A massive entry of 168 orphan lambs topped out at £50 head for a 3 week old Jacob ewe lamb.
Ewes with 38-40kg lambs on sold as couples?
Craziness I can understand peddling an old ewe away with some strong lambs but not killing lambs and with the way job is all round too. They will all be sent in then I would imagine. Cheap reallyYes.
And no i don't get the logic either.
I’m not going to give him any more stick!!@Anymulewilldo is now a "Superb Drawer" of hoggs!
Well my pure exlanas made the same per kg as my beltex and charolais x's on Tuesday. But it certainly wasn't 336p.Will my pure Exlana lambs make 336 p/kg?
