I’ve sold one one with 5 legs before. It made less.Iv presented them on 3 legs before and they’ve still sold the same as 4 legged ones
caused a lot of entertainment in the market though.

Perhaps that begs the question how bad the 4 legged ones wereIv presented them on 3 legs before and they’ve still sold the same as 4 legged ones
Don’t they either full shear or shower all lambs before killing in NZ? This is why the shelf life is better than ours I was told.
Nope sober as a judge.. don’t really get what’s so shocking really, it’s a sellers market at the minute so why would I allow buyers too control what I do… if it was a buyers market then I might reconsider my attitudeAre you p1ssed?
Pigs and poultry are surely more compatible with the factory farming system tho, and therefor more controllable, you just couldn’t farm sheep and cattle in the same fashion, fortunately. If you could we’d be long gone already.Yes I often think it would end up bad if that happened. Pigs have been looked upon by banks as a preferably more viable option compared to cattle and sheep.
If I went into a shop to buy a chicken sandwich and one was nice and clean and one was covered in chicken shite I know which one I would buy. If the only choice was one covered in shite I’d find a different shop. If I asked the shopkeeper chap if he had any sandwiches not covered in shite and he told me he doesn’t give a f**k about his buyers I wouldn’t go back to said shop. Have you ever bought a sandwich with clinkers?Nope sober as a judge.. don’t really get what’s so shocking really, it’s a sellers market at the minute so why would I allow buyers too control what I do… if it was a buyers market then I might reconsider my attitude

The big boys seem to do well out of pigs though? The ones that survive that is
If I remember correctly became Cranswicks main supplier when they sold their own herds, swallowed up by them when it all went belly up. Guess who came out best xxxxxxxxx report increased profits every yearDent was the third biggest in the country at his peak - it didn’t end well. Guess that’s what you mean by those that survive
I saw a share tip for Cranswicks a couple of years ago. Good management and profitable. It's not a great place to work though, from what I hear.If I remember correctly became Cranswicks main supplier when they sold their own herds, swallowed up by them when it all went belly up. Yes I did get told there was another one further north which went by the wayside too but I don’t know about this myselfDent was the third biggest in the country at his peak - it didn’t end well. Guess that’s what you mean by those that survive
Arthur Simmers in Aberdeenshire?Yes I did get told there was another one further north which went by the wayside too but I don’t know about this myself

IIRC they took a lot of folk down with them
It is I said to a friend two or three years ago if the pig job collapses round here it will take the rural economy with it, so many have gone out of cattle/dairy and filled sheds with B and B pigs, then borrowed and put more sheds up to do more numbers, all for three outfits, two of which have pigs on 100+ farms and other probably 20-30. I heard from a feed rep the latter is cutting back numbers and serving notice on a fair percentage of units. I think it’s foolish for anyone to think they are so big that they won’t be cut loose if things get bad enough, and things keep getting worse can any of them stand the pain? That’s the trouble
