I did think about it but the thought soon passedWere you tempted to try one?

That's what I'm thinking. One or two do get picked up for breeding now and then. Will it have gone for breeding?
Losses does put a lot of folks off sheep thoughIt’s pence adjustment per sheep. Nothing too worry about. Just keep a handle on it
IA ?You will just have to buy 3x the cattle bit like IA sort of set up!
You can buy in problems though unless you keep enough gimmers to fill the voidWell after 2 years of culls being very similar in price to replacements it’s a habit you should have got out of!
It’s great and long May it continue. ANYTHING that puts a foot wrong can be culled without costing a fortune too replace. Was different when shearlings were £130 and culls £60. But not now.
Likes to buy a lot at onceIA ?
Some of us are used too itLosses does put a lot of folks off sheep though
Better than keeping clapped out old bangers that can’t make the winter…You can buy in problems though unless you keep enough gimmers to fill the void
Yes I agree, how do you come on with the store lambs. Do you keep them away from your own breeders.Better than keeping clapped out old bangers that can’t make the winter…
of course it does but when youve sold at agood bit more you dont like going back. no differerant to the fat trade!Does the job not stack up selling Barley at £228/ton at 3 ton / acre plus straw ?
Never get near. Ewe lambs and breeder ewes go totally separate winter farms from the feeder sheep. The ground we use for dumping as they arrive has its own handling pens so that solves that side tooYes I agree, how do you come on with the store lambs. Do you keep them away from your own breeders.
Thought you would be organised. That’s what puts me off buying stores in. Take some keep but not enough for the whole winter.Never get near. I keep them separate when they arrive until they are dipped or injected then they are always separate from the ewesThought you would be organised. That’s what puts me off buying stores in. Take some keep but not enough for the whole winter.
Yes that’s the keyI keep them separate when they arrive until they are dipped or injected then they are always separate from the ewes
They haven’t been as bad for itch up here lately last few years out of the marts most folk are on top of it but there’s odd ones you would never buy off
Every single winter I get 1 bunch somewhere that start itching after Christmas. Can usually be traced to a neighbouring keep farm who’s sheep arrive mid December. Yes I know I could give up the ground that borders, but the way the other fella is spread over the same rough area as me I’d be on a severe loser very quickly. And that dirty bugger would be picking up the ground I left…I keep them separate when they arrive until they are dipped or injected then they are always separate from the ewes

Some folks just have it continuously and never get on top of it. We always used to dip ewes in late August here but many times like you say they would pick up the itch off elsewhere and we would have to start again.Every single winter I get 1 bunch somewhere that start itching after Christmas.
