Been in a restaurant tonight in lanzarote, selling Jersey steaks at 75 euros a kilo and wagyu 140 euros a kilo. They looked excellent but I went for a cheaper option.

Tuther day @farmerclare got a fillet steak out the freezer for my tea, when it thawed out we found it was two so cooked both and next day I had fillet steak sandwich for lunch.
and they say tis tough at the top

Most of the farmers went about 35 year ago . The survivors cut there costs mainly aka staff , shepherds cattlemen tractor men, they mostly all went to other industry other than big places . If butchers are having a hard time tough sh!t, i have hard financial time all my life along with many other farmers non more so than livestock and especially hill/lfa livestock farms .

But if we don't have the independent butchers we will be totally at the mercy of the supermarkets. Be careful what you wish for.

The ethnic trade pretty much avoids supermarkets
