I don’t know, the wild oats will seed before then and the field is full of proper thistles. There’s got to be spuds in there too, ideal for blight.

It does look good for wildlife but this is grade one fenland and imo is ludicrous.

couldn't see any 'proper' thistles in photo's :scratchhead:.........when are we gonna learn that we 'don't feed the country' the supermarkets do.........so the only question is how does the £160/ac stubble compare to the beet......32t at £5t?

Plenty of ingredients for priori gold available……
I think impact adds a bit and is cheap enough. Is the elemental sulphur worth using?

There’s plenty of thistles there.

Maybe it’s just bad management of that particular option?

Im coming from a farm where my Grandad would have us hand hoe SB and onions, glean the field after beet harvesting and make us go twitch forking around the field edges!

Well it’s a week since we last pulled the bolters when there was just a hint of virus, this Sunday the bolters pulled nicely after 10mm of thundery rain last night, but the foci of virus are now more obvious. Hopefully what we see now is the extent of it and the whole field isn’t yellow by August.
