Beet yields 2020

27.00 +the 2.00 proximity to the factory enhancement is making me think a little. It is better than the 25.00 quid that was talked about but I am wondering how much our growing costs are to rise given the supply and demand situation we are experiencing at the moment. It is inevitable that chemical costs will rise as will fuel and fertiliser but who knows how much.Even with the improved offer we could still be in the same place. Don't forget the cut in BPS as well.

Surely the cut in BPS effects all crops equally? 🤔

If you're going to negotiate you need to have a target price in mind.

£29, the job is too risky with virus yellows, rocketing input prices, the expensive damage to your following wheat yields, soil structure, farm tracks, clamp costs etc. And British Sugar will think £29 is more presentable to their shareholders than £30.
So people within 9 miles of the factory have actually got the £29 I suggested?

We have next year left on the contract so as I read it we would get approx £26.50 next year inc the proximity bonus and then have to grow again the year after for £26.50. Is that right?

Barely. Our haulage allowance (final amount) is based on actual costs though isn’t it? 2 things that strike me, why do they particularly want beet from within 28miles of the factory? Secondly I’m slightly disappointed that the market bonus has been scrapped, I never expected to receive anything but hoped it was there to protect growers from unexpected price rises so we can get a share of any unexpected BS profits.
I suspect that bs have dropped the market bonus because for the first time since it's inception BS think there might be a real chance of sugar prices rising!

I was being kind with a fortnight, a decade or two might have been more accurate 😘🤣🤣🤣🤣

What's the point doing too many sums, I'm twit enough to keep growing them. I was growing them for 20 odd so so can't see any calculator saying NO at £27.20🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Potash last year was 250 and is now 400 and my beet blend was 170 so I recon it'll be 250 atleast this year.
