Sowed at 38000So assuming you've got an optimum plant population of circa 100 000/ha your looking at a 90t/ha crop......ish
93 000 odd/ ha minus establishment losses.Sowed at 38000
You old'uns don't know how good you had it!!!!beet £30/t...seed £55/unit....seedbed fert £45/ac....contract lift £40/ac.....whats not to like
I make it sub 70t/ha if establishment is 80%.............93 000 odd/ ha minus establishment losses.
80t/ha
Would establishment be that low???? I'm usually 90 plus bit I am on "kind" ground I suppose.I make it sub 70t/ha if establishment is 80%.............
I prefer the 1950s, majors and steerage hoesthat is so true
life was better back in the eighties so thats where i've 'regressed to
I hope it's a lot better than that!!I make it sub 70t/ha if establishment is 80%.............
The statement "not many bare patches" is worrying. The beet need to be like rows of soldiers, any gaps in the row soon start to knock final yield.I hope it's a lot better than that!!
Be honest it's the best crop I ever had and not many bare patches at establishment
Should weigh a few again...
Exactly!!odd random double seed but I think I came across wrongThe statement "not many bare patches" is worrying. The beet need to be like rows of soldiers, any gaps in the row soon start to knock final yield.
Haulage allowance is if I recall based on actual costs of the BS haulage scheme hauliers. They start the season with a price. Then if costs increase during the season have an end of season discussion (punch up!!). Unless in the scheme your own haulier may charge more.Barely. Our haulage allowance (final amount) is based on actual costs though isn’t it? 2 things that strike me, why do they particularly want beet from within 28miles of the factory? Secondly I’m slightly disappointed that the market bonus has been scrapped, I never expected to receive anything but hoped it was there to protect growers from unexpected price rises so we can get a share of any unexpected BS profits.
Anybody think they've got pricing wrong way round in this 'new deal' £27 for one Yr maybes £25 for a committed grower .
'One is not amused'
If you 3 year deal is coming to an end can't you just go back to a 1 year one.Yes we’ve made broadly this point to our fieldsman. Growers on 3 year deals took the hit on virus yellows and have been told ‘you signed the deal, live with it’. But we’ll offer a little extra money as long as you promise to extend your 3 year deal to a 4 year one.
Whereas opportunists who jump in and out of beets growing as it suits them have been rewarded with a better beet price.
Most 3 year deals still have next season to run yet?If you 3 year deal is coming to an end can't you just go back to a 1 year one.
Simple old me can't see how BS can offer less to tie growers up to multi years for less than one years contract's?????
Ps it doesn't affect me as I've NEVER signed a 3 year deal
Oh I see, I thought it was odd if year 3 of 3 was this year, why anyone would sign up for a 3th year at 25.Most 3 year deals still have next season to run yet?
