Looks like Newark factory hasn’t got off to a flying start.
Didn’t get processing for a few days after opening beet in take due to ongoing repairs, and now they’ve been going for 5 or 6 days and only seem to be processing less than 5000t / day. (50%)
Think permits have been getting restricted already. Think I’ll leave mine in the ground until they get sorted out.

3 weeks ago i weighed a few and 900gram average

NFU sugar put up their levy by 2p/t (18%!) I see. I find it a bit annoying when every year I have to complain about the sampling procedure which I’m convinced is flawed. For example this week sending beet in dirts 2-4%. One load 8% allegedly because they found a stone from the pad. Now I don’t think this is representative of the load let alone the next four 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Now they've finished blowing each other off over there perceived success with the contract they'll all want a little extra financially.
In this week's Yellow peril, BS have got a full page advert outlining how wonderful the new contract agreements are !!
But then in the letters section there is a piece from one grower annoyed at how loyal growers on a 3 year contract have been forgotten about.

My haulier told me not to bother lifting anything for a week or so for Newark. Reckons they are bunged out.

Yep. Had email saying things weren’t going well due to a few problems with factory upgrades / repairs. Only processing around 5000t and hoping to get up to 6500t. Which is still a fair bit off the 10000t they normally process.
Letter restrictions of permits in place. Think it’s quite slow getting tipped.
Better in ground at moment than sat in heap losing sugar.
Yellow peril also telling growers how to heap and store beet in clamps. 😤

Thats what, an extra £150k on a 7.5 million ton crop? I haven't seen the letter, what is their justification for it?

Couple of questions if I may
Brick fodder beet had 2x escolta end of july and end of August
Just starting to see cercospora in 2 small patches

Too late to do anything with it now?just lift them?
Only issue is I can only lift half of it until January, what to do with second half?

Also seen a badger or fox eating 1 or 2 off the ends of the rows where they are bigger and noticed a few of the largest beets are hollow, not black like deadheart just hollow

What’s with the text message I’ve just received about all movement of loads suspended? Just bury or all factories? I hope nothing tragic has happened.
