Behaviour of the Public (well some)

You wouldn’t believe the camper vans around here today, I’m not ashamed to say that I went through the lot of them like a dose of salts, nobody was spared.

We lay on a few forest walks through the estate (helps with felling licenses) which start at a central point, at this location (which happens to be an old stone dyke sheep fank) we have bbq pits built in to the walls and picnic benches around, the place was jammed packed today with various families enjoying the great outdoors with no two f***s given To the consequence. Unbelievabl.

It won’t be happening again!

Listening to the radio news whilst pushing slurry about, I heard an angry senior police officer berating those who had left their homes for a jolly beside the sea.
He was raging, rightly in my view, about how some were treating this crisis as a holiday.

Add that to the emotional video of the critical care nurse who couldn’t get basic foodstuffs at the end of her shift as the result of panic buying, and one can only conclude that we are an inherently selfish nation.

And of course there are those of wealth who have fled to their second homes from urban living bringing who knows what with them to largely virus free areas.

Time to oil the gun and man the barricades ... or ?
So did the radio station ask those wicked people why they had decided to spend a day in the fresh sea air?

Load of rubbish.

Death numbers today haven't jumped anymore than the daily average.

Nearly 70% of death's in Italy come from one small area, take them out then the death rate is very low like nearly every other country in the world!

Yes some people will sadly die but it wont be anywhere near 250'000 as predicted and I strongly suspect much less than the death numbers from flu in the worst flu seasons.
I am always very 'open minded' about death figures, some of these people may have died in a 'normal' year from norovirus or flu.
Its the amount of people who will need oxygen support, and antibiotics who would not normally had any ill effects from a respiratory virus, and how they will be affected afterwards.
If you have ever seen anyone who is seriously breathless, so they can not talk or move, you would not wish it on anyone. They become confused and unable to eat or drink, it also causes changes in the bodies biochemistry. The effort of breathing becomes to much and even if they are getting enough oxygen they may need to be ventilated.
Once you get someone on a ventilator for breathing difficulties its a lot harder to wean them off.
So really to know how bad this has been, the support treatment needed, what was it and for how long, is a huge factor, and also how do you decided who gets that support. If you have paid personal insurance health system, is it the person with the most insurance or money gets the best treatment, even if its likely to be ineffective? I have no idea how the Italian health system works, but without knowing lots of other variables I think you can not compare the figures.

Fed up of queuing in Tescos a group of local desperadoes helped themselves to a ewe here last night. Mrs YB reported it on 101 and miraculously a policewoman turned up almost before she'd put the phone down (turned out she was 400 yards away en route to a burglary in the next village)

That, bye the bye, what I really wanted to pass on was that she told us that supermarket home delivery vans are now being targeted by the local scum - they watch for them to park up to make a delivery and while the driver is knocking at the door they are breaking into the vans and nicking the stuff inside :mad::banghead::banghead:

@beardface Until they have a test that shows that you HAVE had the virus. AND shows that you can't get re-infected it is a risk for you to take.

The most likely way we will come out of this is gradually when they CAN test you have had it and KNOW that you can't get it again [protection for probably a year of two] - you will then be safe to go out and add to the herd immunity.

The test doesn't exist yet, and not one is yet sure that you can't get re-infected [it is suspected that this will be the case]

Agreed, but the best way to mimic how they've controlled it in Asia without community testing is this method. Also if people identify themselves as self isolating it makes it easier to get an idea of community spread and where the antibody tests need to be sent.

The sooner they bring in tighter movement restrictions and field the army the better. Could end up being a big win for rural crime as those moving about who shouldn't be may have there vehicles searched as par for the course. Could be a big reduction in these scumbags. Would love to see them try and harm an SA80 wielding army lad.

So did the radio station ask those wicked people why they had decided to spend a day in the fresh sea air?

No it didn't and that's not a bad point as the government is guilty of conflicting advice. On the one hand to get fresh air & exercise whilst on the other to social distance to protect the old & vulnerable
However I doubt the government meant people to jump in cars and drive miles for their air.
I now fully expect much tighter movement restrictions- brought on to a large extent by a section of the f**k you generation

Have any of you actually got the tape measure out and measured 2 metres, it's a scary distance honestly
Me and my boys did it this morning, having a guess then a measure. All were at least 70 cm out.

So measure and think about who you have been within 2 metres of in the last 2 weeks.
Scary!!

My boys late teens early 20s have also got girlfriends, due to a vulnerable person in our household we have had to say no to them seeing them.
They need support more than us adults as we have each other.

Theres no need to get scared. That person 2m away from you needs to not be a carrier, they need to take responsibility for their own hygiene (hands and nose and cough) etc.

Be cautious for sure but fear is stoking up tensions and agression that do not need to be there. If you have someone vulnerable then personally I think you should all self isolate and get someone else to do ur shopping
