The Galebreaker Rollerscreen is not fit for purpose, as supplied. The end-brackets are too weak and will bend in strong winds. The ratchet return spring is too weak to keep the ratchet properly locked. My new Rollerscreen now works properly but only after I modified the end-brackets and ratchet to strengthen them. Galebreaker were not particularly helpful, saying “the screen is not designed to cope with Gales”…. Yes really. They did eventually supply some replacement parts, but are not particularly responsive to emails or complaints

Out of interest how high and exposed are you?

Bad service

We are fairly exposed and in a windy area. The upper tube was flexing and bending the end-brackets. The ratchet would not latch properly and the screen would unhook from the lower brackets and roll up. I fixed this by pulling the top brackets together with a ratchet strap and fitted a stronger spring on the ratchet pawl. It now works ok even in strong winds.

But for a brand new screen from Galebreaker it should have been better.
