Looking for a good set of clippers for dagging etc, I found that the most expensive are not always the best..
All suggestion will be gratefully received..

Hand or battery?
I’ve some Welsh shearing battery ones, they “ do a job” but I can’t get on with them , prefer a set of generic hand clippers from local ag merchant, or stick the old lister machine up if there’s a few to do
But … I am no shearer

Battery, we bought a set off Welsh shearing company, they did the job for us too, yet we always had issues with the battery locking mechanism ! we had to use insulation tape, now neither of the batteries will take a charge..

Mine has two clips that hold the battery in place, I think most of the battery machines are re branded generic Chinese jobs
I can’t remember who but seem to recall it being said on here, buy one “ unbranded “ of eBay for a lot less £

We've got a couple of 'GD Job' branded ones from amazon (the green ones) around £230 I think. Very impressed with them daggged several hundred ewes with them and clipped out a lot with the fly
The batteries will die eventually but I believe if you know what your doing you can take the battery pack apart and replace the cell

We had the same issues with a Masterclip set. They replaced the batteries but the replacements didn't even last as long as the originals. Chucked it and bought a 'Blade' which takes Makita batteries. Far better.

Had my Horner Rambos with a hip battery pack for two years now after a shearer recommended them. Only have about 200 sheep but they're mostly longwools and I like to crutch them out every 3-4 months to keep them clean, so they've seen plenty of use. Also fully clipped a few sheep with them no bother. I have two battery packs so I can keep going and put one on charge if it dies, works well

Had Horner Razor for 2 years and very pleased with them. I understand they are similar to the ones mentioned above from Welsh Shearing.
Some don't like them but faultless with us.

Also got the Horner 18v ones. They are a bit numb to handle, but they always will be after a proper handpiece. On balance they are way much better than dragging daggy sheep out of a bunch back to a fixed machine.

They've improved the newer ones, better clip. I'm told the new ones hold no worries
