yeah that too  although a lot think that just cause its wrapped up nicely it'll come out the best silage in the world ever :banghead:

Wrapped some absolute shite behind other people's balers last year, felt sorry for the poor animals that were expected to eat it. To be fair I can't remember a worse hay/silage season weatherwise, pee'd down from mid May and never stopped.

Old thread, needs a bump ready for this season..

Unterland we found to be the best wrap we've ever used, hard to get it at a good price anymore now. Anyone have a good source?

We use silawrap to make jusg under a 1000 rounds a year. Found it very good. Had a quote of £52 for a pallet of it this year.

In what way is Unterland better than Silotite etc?

I've used all sorts of stuff over the past few years and never really noticed any being particularly bad.

Which brands do most people reckon are the best for toughness, reliability and keeping bale baled forage as good as possible?

We put 6 layers of either black Topwrap or Silotite; never go for the cheapest but try and pick the best. Generally our bales keep well but this year we have had some showing minor spoilage of lower bales where the upper bales have rested on them.

Sort of dinner plate sized patches of mould either side of the apex of the bale, where upper bales have rested on them; not all bales by any means but perhaps 20% of some lower bales. Other stacks have been absolutely fine right through. We stack dry haylage 3 layers high in the conventional pyramid pattern and have done so relatively successfully for many years.

So is there one brand that most people feel is an outstandingly good and reliable product? TIA
That is because you have stacked them wrong, sorry for my negatively

Silotite always been good to me, though bought Topwrap for this year 🤷

I've a field next to a copse that's polluted with crows. Last year I tried wrapping some in black, some in green, and some in both. The crows put a few holes in the black, took pleasure in peppering the green, and left the striped ones alone!

I'll be wrapping them all striped this year......

I’ve got some rani repel this year at a very good price, hoping to stop some of the bird damage.Cant really see it working, last years stock at a normal wrap price,so nothing to lose really.

I heard of a few people that used it last year who were going back to their suppliers with claims.
I think several of them had been sold it to protect wholecrop in bales which, from the pictures I saw, it certainly didn’t do.🤐

We had about thirty bales semi spoiled by pheasants pecking at their reflection on the ends where the weapon is thickest. Normal wrap but still shiny

I’m not expecting much but it’s good wrap so a no brainer to try it.
