Best welding auto helmet

Ok can anyone recommend a good sensible priced auto helmet. I have been buying cheap ones from Aldi but they only seem to last a few months. Not doing loads but want something that will work well and last

esab warrior tech/savage

Not fancy, not the best hoods in the world, but they work and are very comfy, excellent value for money.

I've tried em all, top end speedglas and viking, optrel, etc, I've settled with esab sentinels and brother has an old warrior tech that just keeps going.

The main thing for me is being able to see the weld while the arc is struck and fast clearing of the shade when the arc is extinguished, probably look for other features if I welded a lot.

I've an esab Warrior and while it's more convenient than a standard one it's not very good for actually seeing what you're doing. Even on its lightest setting all you can see is the arc itself but struggle to see the weld.

Apparently the Lidl ones are quite good and last well.

I think that's more you, than the hood itself...

I've used a lidl one, actually fairly impressed for a cheap throwaway, but it's not something I'd spend my own money on!

Be careful cheap dosent block all the harm ot should think ave did a vid on it on youtube . I gave myself arc eye cant see in mask plasmaing so just winged it ended up spending hidious on a optrel think was a panaramexx clt apsolutly mind blowing like going from a ford 7810 to somthing new the auto shade feature is amazing especially from going from plasma to welding difrent likght outside you can always see the same and so much more with better colour optics crazy money but you only got one set of eyes arc eyes worse than toothache belive it or not cant even look at your phone to distract yourself a smidge or see the time

Definitely isn't me, don't have a problem seeing with a standard one or my Optrel plus there's no grind function in the warrior.

Yeah the Warrior is gone, the replacement is the Savage. Not tried one personally, but been told it's good... has a true colour ADF which is nice too. The Sentinel ADF is absolutely superb.

A useful thing I was given by somebody I used to work alongside I’ll get a photo of it tomorrow. But it’s a piece of leather shaped and stitched onto a bit of that rubber door seal stuff and then fits into to bottom of your weld helmet. Stops no end of fumes from coming up the gap under your chin. Once you’ve used a helmet with one on you won’t like using without. Not a replacement for proper air fed mask but is so much better for you than standard.

speedglas air fed is the best, but you can get much better value for money from parweld, sentinel etc. get air fed if you can, you wont regret it

How do you all stop glare coming in from the back of the helmet? I find this to be the biggest issue with any mask I have tried.

Maybe that will explain. Stops the fumes coming up the gap under your chin! Makes a big difference. And I always put some holes in the side of a peaked cap then fit that in the head strap. No more sparks on your head.

3m speed glass, only get one set of eyes these days. Buy a cheap one and get low level arc eye over a few years and you degrade your eyesight massively. I quite fancy one of those optrel sentinel masks.

I guess most people weld inside and not relying on overhead lights

So I bought a Jefferson 1 local ag dealer had them in and said they use them so will see how it goes
