What's your technique for getting the chamber completely empty? I like to empty it as even dry hay sweats and crusts the chamber Some now have a partial bale elector device. How does that work?

There’s usually a set of spike in the bottom of the chamber attached to a hydraulic ram, as the ram is pushed out the spikes rise into the bottom of the bale and push it out. Just extend and retract the ram a few times and the bale is out. Just remember to tie it first.

I set the stuffer so its constantly cycling, set of vice grips normally does it. Pressure off completely. Then start baling, keep rpm down about 500 as low as you can, then crawl into whatever your baling. Then tie manually trip knotter every quarter bale or less. Then put a bar or similar through six strings, strap onto bar and pull each small loose bale out with telehandler. Its handy as can get headstock right into chamber.

Yes i know that but it doesnt get the chamber empty unless a decent length bale. Often we make 4ft bales. If the last one is not long enough the extractor will tgry to curl up the bale rather than pull the bale. I then end up having to put some old straw in the baler to push the damp stuff out.

I put 2 little ratchet strap hooks on the middle 2 strings and pull it out with the loadall .

Make the last bale a bit bigger then?

As @Chae1 says, set of mole grips on the stuffer trip, short bale length (1ft), 500 pto and crawl forwards. Then you can pull them out by hand.

If you have ejectors just make sure the knotter doesn’t tie at the wrong place, and use them. A long bale can be better than half a bale in the chamber.

If it does just push it against another, cut the strings, dig out the excess and re tie.

Square balers are designed to have stuff left in the chamber, easier just to rebale some straw if you really want the grass out?
I often do that if I have to but just looking to see if anyone has any good systems that work.

it theres two of you there, one gets on top with a bar under big plate that you kneel on to mend knotters and try barring it out while the other man works the ejector, once it grabs and starts moving it will go.....best to do it from start before it curls it up tho….. we have a short bar in tractor....only 3 ft long thing....that's enough to get it going.... but sometimes it don't work tho!!
